
PROFESSIONAL TESOL DIPLOMA
INTRODUCTION
This Professional TESOL Diploma is an internationally recognized qualification. It is awarded by the Global TESOL College in Canada. This programme is designed for trainees who are new to English teaching and who intend to embark on a career in the teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages. This program will equip the trainees with the necessary skills and knowledge as an English teacher. This learning experience will provide them with the opportunity to obtain the necessary recognized qualifications for their career advancement.
Course Contents
Fundamentals of TESOL & Its Approaches (Core module)
The students will learn 40 communication-based TESOL approaches and methods of teaching English, which also cover the four language acquisition skills, grammar, pronunciation, Conversation, Communication, Lesson Planning and Teacher Preparation.
Teaching Grammar
Proficient knowledge of grammar is an essential and integral part of language acquisition and communication. Through this program, you will also be perfecting your own grammar skills. It will also give you an overall perspective on how to teach grammar in an English language classroom.
Teaching Business English
An introduction and overview of what English for Specific Purposes (ESP), this program addresses who your target students are. You will learn the process of teaching Business English as it covers the methods and approaches specific to this area. You will understand four language acquisition skills and how they are applied in the business world.
Teaching TOEFL Preparation
This module has been designed to provide you with a review of the four language acquisition skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) applied to the TOEFL examination. These skills will enable you to help your students pass this all-important exam effectively and successfully.
Teaching Children English
Teaching Children breaks down the theory behind language acquisition as it applies to teaching children English, as well as defining the verbal and physical milestones of children. The second part to the course deals with the most important aspect of teaching children - the ability to plan games!
Teaching Tourism English
Tourism is an industry that continues to grow annually. Millions of non-native English speakers worldwide are planning to or already work in this industry, but lack the skills to effectively communicate with English speaking tourists. Student's range from store clerks to hotel staff to tour guides? Anyone involved in the tourism industry. Tutoring English
Tutoring English divides itself into two parts. The first section deals with assessing and analyzing your students' English abilities and understanding their individual needs. The second section shows you how to take a lesson plan designed for a classroom and adapt it to a one-on-one situation. Adults need to learn to use English and to communicate clearly. Over the years there have been many methods of teaching Adults English, each of these methods claiming to be the :authority" on what adults learners need to learn. The Communicative movement encompasses all modules and methods of language use.
Teaching ESL Locally
Teaching ESL Locally is becoming an increasingly popular industry, as the number of newcomers/immigrants to native English speaking countries continues to increase annually. Your TESOL teaching skills will place you in an employable and lucrative industry, in your home country. Working with newcomer/immigrant ESL students demands special TESOL skills, knowledge and experience. It is also an area of teaching that is common for experienced teachers as well as newcomers to this field, and each position asks for different requirements. Students are highly motivated since learning English has clear advantages for them personally
ADMISSION CRITERIA
To apply for the course, all trainees should meet the following admission criteria:
- 5 GCE "O" Levels with a credit in English
- If you do not fall within any of the above categories and think you are qualified for the course, please submit all your qualifications and a letter explaining why you should be considered. Your application will then be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
AWARD
Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded with Professional TESOL Diploma. The Diploma will be awarded by Global TESOL College, Canada.
