
Academic / Examination Board
The Academic / Examination Board was first established by The TESOL Training Centre in 2009.
The role of the Academic Board is to "tender advice to the school on matters relating to the academic activities of the School".
The role of the Examination Board is to monitor the quality of examinations as well as to enforce education and examination rules and regulations.
Ong Suan Choo
MA in English Studies (National University of Singapore), BA in English, Hons (University of London), Further Professional Diploma in Education (Institute of Education, Singapore), Advanced TESOL Diploma (Canada), Certificate in Education (Teachers' Training College), Certificate in Teaching Grammar (British Council & MOE).
An energetic and self motivated learner, Suan Choo believes in lifelong learning and has recently successfully attained an MA in English studies after pursuing a two year course in NUS. Besides this and various other qualifications attained over the years, she has also been awarded a certificate of excellence in TESOL in 2009 at the age of 59. She has been a strong and devoted teacher for 42 years and has always pursued courses related to her career in order to generate new ideas in improving her teaching methodology in the classroom.
Karamjeet Kaur
MA in Applied Linguistics (TESOL) and BA in English Language and Linguistics from University of Melbourne, Australia, Dip in Education from Institute of Education, Singapore and Victorian Institute of Teaching Certificate from Australia.
Karamjeet brings with her more than 25 years in teaching experience which includes being a residential tutor for undergraduates in Melbourne. Her areas of interest are in language testing, language and identity, language teaching, and issues related to applied linguistics. Her work in teaching has won her the Innovation in Teaching Award in 1999. In addition, she represented the Institute in the National Debates in which her team emerged national winners. Karamjeet has been interviewed for a polytechnic publication focusing on teaching as a career. She has also initiated several community based projects both locally and internationally.
Devakumar Santhirasegaran
MA TEFL/TESL Research (UK), MSc in Logistic and Degree in Mech Eng from Nanyang Technological University, Post Graduate Diploma in Education from National Institute of Education Singapore, Diploma in TESOL (UK), Certificate in TEFL (UK), Certificate of Educational Studies (UK), Certificate in Teaching Grammar, TKT (Uni. Cambridge),Cert in Teaching Speaking (College of Teachers ,UK), Advanced Communicator Bronze Certificate (ACB) (Toastmaster,USA)
He has 15 years of experience in teaching English in Malaysia and Singapore. His is multi-lingual and has extensive experience crafting teaching methods and materials for speakers of other languages. He was also involved in corporate training with his background in Degree and Master in Engineering. He is a keen learner, continuously upgrading himself in the field of teaching English. He was a conference presenter on Teaching Writing to EFL students in the International Conference for English Language Teaching (ICELT) 2009 and Malaysia English Language Teaching Association Conference (MELTA) 2011.He is also the Vice-President of Education for GP Toastmaster Club. Dave is an excellent source of inspiration for mid-career teachers interested in pursuing TESOL teaching and career opportunities in the field of TESOL
Roslan Abdul Jalil
Master of Education in Curriculum & Teaching (Nanyang Technological University), BA in Economics and Political Science(National University of Singapore), Post-Graduate Diploma in Education(National Institute of Education, Singapore), Certificate IV in TESOL (Language Training Institute, Australia).
Roslan has more than 15 years of teaching experience under his belt including being a Subject Head for National Education and Teacher Mentor with the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore. He is certified in TESOL and has helped guide and mentor many individuals who took the course. Roslan has also given a talk sharing his vast experience in teaching at the International Conference for Educational Technology (2006) and the CRPP - Redesigning Pedagogy Conference (2007). He has had experience in writing Mother Tongue textbooks (CPDD) for the MOE and was on the working committee of the development of its Malay Language CD-Rom. He is a keen learner and is continuously upgrading himself in the field of teaching.
He is actively involved in designing training programmes for companies, targeted at the different levels of the organisation.
Roslan is a good role-model for teachers interested in pursuing TESOL.
Sebastian Seow
MBA in Strategic Marketing (The University of Hull), BBA (Thames Valley University), Dip in Sales and Marketing (MIS), CIM Dip in Marketing (The Chartered Institute of Marketing), Chartered Marketer.
Sebastian carries with him more than 20 years of experience in the area of professional Sales and Marketing. He helps to direct and manage marketing mixes for companies across the Asian Pacific with focuses on driving customer satisfaction and market penetration. He also identifies, develops and implements e-Business strategies for companies to support company growth initiatives. He has accumulated an extensive working experience in two public listed IT companies in Singapore holding an impressive senior sales and marketing portfolio ranging from product marketing, channel development and business development.
He is actively involved in designing training programmes for companies, targeted at the different levels of the organisation.
Lynn Wong
Lynn has more than 20 years experience within the educational sector in Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. Prior to establishing The TESOL Training Centre (TTTC), Lynn was working as a Director for one of Singapore's leading Management and Consultancy Company. She holds Bachelor of Arts (Management and Economics), Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing (The Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK), Instructor TESOL Diploma (Canada), Advanced TESOL Diploma (Canada), Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Australia). She is currently pursuing her MA in Educational Studies with one of the University in the UK.
At The TESOL Training Centre (TTTC), she is responsible for the general day-to-day management of the school, both academic and administrative. Lynn is dedicated to providing a personal and friendly service to every student attending courses with The TESOL Training Centre (TTTC). She is available to all students, to provide guidance and support when required.
Kim Chua
MA in TEYL (University Of York), BA in Arts & Social Sciences (National University of Singapore), Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers & Trainers (University of Cambridge), Diploma in TESOL (UK), Certificate in TEYL (UK), Currently Undergoing BA in Communication and English Language Studies (UNISIM, Singapore).
Kim has over 10 years of Teaching and Training Experience which includes being an education consultant, language specialist, educational features writer, program designer, teacher trainer and seminar speaker. While enjoying a fulfilling lecturing career with some of the best tertiary institutions in Singapore, she is also actively seeking opportunities to organize dynamic training programs both locally and regionally. To date, Kim has successfully conducted strategic training programs successfully in Singapore, China and Hong Kong for government schools as well as private educational institutions.
